Tri-sonics - what do they sound like?

I'm putting together a partscaster, and I'm tempted to look at some less obvious options for pickups. I like a bright single coil sound with a mostly clean amp, but other than that I'm not tied to any particular pickup type. Since I'm in the UK, the Adeson "Classic British" Trisonic style pickups work out quite affordable. My problem is, most examples I can find of Trisonic pickups are from people doing the Brian May thing with lots of gain, not with a clean amp. So, does anyone have any experience with these pickups? How does the sound compare to something like a typical Strat pickup? Are they thick and dark, or more obviously single-coil sounding?

Nobody? I'm just wondering what sort of ballpark the sound is in, if you're not trying to sound like Brian May.

I think GFS makes a Burns Tri-sonic style pickup that is strat sized. No experience with it, but their prices are good and they usually have sound samples on the web site.

I'm not sure if they were the Tri-Sonics, but I owned a Burns Split-Sound Jazz several years ago that had three pickups in it. The wiring of the guitar was pretty silly and the only natural sound you could get from any of the pickups was from the bridge pickup. It smoked! Fatter and slightly darker than a Strat pickup. More like a beefy Tele pickup. It had a great pugnacious twang to it.
