Diamond Rio or Brad Paisley Sound??
Hi All... im sort of new to the tele guitar.. mostly played acoustic for the past few years, but ive collected a few electrics :) I purchased a Nashville Deluxe tele and liked it so much i wanted to pick up "b-bending" so i bought a b-bender tele a few days ago, while i was there my salesman suggest i switch the bridge pup to a SD Five-Two, so i did, i like it, but what would go with it?? The middle and the neck? Im looking for a diamond rio or b. paisley sound.. can you guys/gals help me out? :)

Ok...two different players in terms of style and tone.
Jimmy Olander is supposed to use the Duncan 5/2 in his Glaser built tele. He plays VERY clean into a pair of Matchless S/C 30s and a small rack of delays and compressors. I've only seen Jimmy use a guitar with a neck pup...and it was a Hamer w/'buckers. Paisley...well, my main picker is all about Fralin BLues Special and Voodoo TE60 bridge pups and Adder Corp Tele Plus neck pups. He's got a Duncan hot rhythm tele neck pup in the old pink paisley. Brad's tone is from very loud running Dr. Z amps (several models) with a hint of TS9 or Blues Driver (Keeley mods)or Zendrive pedals used to kick up the tone... for both these guys, don't forget the digital delay to add some depth to your tone. To match your new 5/2, I'd say put a punchier neck pup in there...say a Hot Rhythm and a good open sounding strat middle pup..say a Fender Fat 50. Now you can get very dangerous and check out Rio Grande's Nashville Tele sets of matched pups...some serious tone their too. J

I've had the Dyna Comp, Boss CS3 (used by Brent Mason and Vince Gill), a Boss CS2 (used by Redd Volkaert - tele god !) and now use a Barber Tone Press. I'd say try the CS3 first, it's more of a direct line to that polished Nashville studio tone, the Dyna COmp is more raw and in your face. hth, J
