probably a stupid question about strings and flat polepieces

I know this may sound stupid to most, but for those of you using tele pups with flat orientated pole pieces, do you setup your strings to mimic the neck radius, or do you flaten out the hieight a little on the middle strings to get a more even string for string output? (and by flatten out, I mean subtle, not completely). I've not tried the other because I like my strings to follow the radius, but have been considering looking for pups with raised poles.

Lots of people do it different ways....I've played flat magnet pickups in Teles for about 30 years and I set my action relatively high and the bridge perfectly flat just like the pickup.....and it works great that way IMHO....

I set mine to the radius, but also have a flatter 9.5" radius. I think with a vintage 7.25" radius - you would need to flatten it out a bit to compensate for not having raised poles.

That is when a musician that I have respected for many years now truly helped me out with some SOLID advice.

I never could get this Alnico II pro perfect. The G string just didn't ring out. I flattened the pickup (just before pulliing it tonight) and wa-la.

Man o man. I noticed the difference in one riff. I still have to pluck is a little harder than the rest...but I can change pick attack during playing.

I guess I am behind. I was reading all of Bill's threads and got lazy.
