good replacement pickups??

I'm going to buy a 60' classic tele and maybe I'm gonna change the pickups, not sure at the moment. I just want to get an idea of some good tele pickups, there are so many around. My style of music goes from indierock and britrock to postrock so the pickups should have a good overdrive and distortion sound.

Check the Pickups Forum below

Lots of opinions in the pickup forum. Also recommend that you use the search function, maybe looking for theads on the 60's tele in the pickup forum, or searching on pickups you want to consider. You may be reading for awhile... :D

For what it's worth... most people around here rave about the stock pickups in that g-fiddle...

What I would suggest is that you try the guitar for an extended period and try adjusting the pickups to taste... if still unsatisfied, revisit the question... otherwise...

Fender CS or OEM pups...
SD pups
Lollars
Fralins
Hamels
Duffs...

etc, etc.

Best of luck in your tone quest...

Good advice.

Also, after you get the Tele, try it (with the original pickups) in a range of amplifiers; take the guitar with you to stores that sell amps and try your Tele through several other decent amps. Your amp may leave something to be desired, and you may go chasing tone with different pickups when the stock pickup would sound fine with a better sounding amp.

I think the stock pickups in the '60s Tele are pretty good. In part it depends on what tones you're trying to get.

60's Classic

I have 3 tele's at the moment and the 60's classic pickups are my favorite.

The other pickups are CS Nocaster's and AV '62's...although if your looking for 50's twang the Nocaster is my favorite, but if your looking for 60's..that classic pup is hard to beat....I would give it a try before buying something else.
