I haven't tried both, but I can tell you I put an SD Broadcaster in the bridge of my 52 RI a few weeks ago and I LOVE it. Especially for the price. It does have twang, but to my ears it's got more of a raw rock n' roll tone to it which is exactly what I was looking for. It does have a lot of treble though so you can gte some good twang tones.

I added an SD Broadcaster to my 50's Classic and didnt have to reverse the wires in perfect phase.
IT also sounded about 99% as good as any other pickup I tried its a great pickup.
