Dearmond soundhole pickup equivalents.
I really like the sound of those old DeArmond acoustic pickups, the one lacking the "B" polepeice.
The only place I ever see 'em now is on Ebay, and they tend to go for more than I'm willing to pay. So my question is this, are there any modern alternatives or equivalents that will give that funky old sound that the DeArmonds have? I've seen some cheap Lawrence soundhole pickups in some local stores, could I get what I'm after with one of these? |

Lawrence soundhole pu's
I have never played an acoustic with one of the old Dearmond soundhole pu's so I can't comment on how they sound.
But I have had and used the Bill Lawrence soundhole pu's, I'm sure there are "better" pu's available these days (for a lot more $) but the Lawrence pu's always sounded real good to me, especially if you play into a full range amp or PA, they sound good into a clean amp too. I've seen them used on eBay pretty cheap too. |
