GFS Fatbody fron pup/ G&L Classic rear pup!!
I just got back my 10 month old SX Furian T.
My repairman friend installed my 3 yr old new GFS Fatbody front pup and a used rear G&L ASAT Classic pup ( i bought here in the classifieds). Oh goodness! The GFS is so full and balanced. The G&L is right there too!! I ain't going into the nuances, but I fingerpick clean- and these pass my muster easily!

1 wk later with playing in small band situation:
Oh my!! I guess this is a hard thread to respond to since there are no specs, sound samples, etc. Ya don't need a million $$ for what YOU KNOW sounds good!! I waited almost 1 yr to tweak my SX. Immense diff!! //

Also, the capacitance load provided by the cable makes a significant difference in character and high end content.

The pF/foot is not provided for that cable. Point is: the total capacitance load on a passive inductor (pickup) circuit serves to tune the resonance peak. You can tune the pickup for an optimal response for your needs. I have found that a peak above ~5.5kHz works best for most things. String hash can be an issue much above that. It depends on the pickup position, guitar, action, etc. 4.2-4.5kHz can be really nice for a round Bell tone with precise articulation. ~2-2.5kHz is good for cutting through in live situation, but not so good for articulation.

Narco:
It sounds just as good with my Vox 20' cable and a 'boutiquey' cable with zero capacitance (with micro battery at end). All the 'cable news' networks agree, they all sound good!! And I play clean/thumbpick and all fingers! I'm not against the application of scientific reasons for anything... but nothing explains away what I am hearing. . /

I'm not arguing how good it sounds, just where the resonant peak is placed, and how much high end is available above that. A resonant peak in the ~2-3kHz range does sound very good, but it won't reveal the subtle articulations (for better or worse) in your style, like 4-5kHz will. It's not really important in a live situation. If you don't hear any difference at all, it could be that the pickup has eddy currents that roll off the high end anyway, or that the amp/speaker sound somewhat masks it. Thing is: you don't really care one way or another, so it doesn't really matter, init?
