EMG's in my Muddy
I bought this Muddy and IMO the cosmetics are beautuful but those pups(same as a 52 RI Im told) dont turn me on. I ordered the EMG-T set which are more like early 60's and better for blues and rock. Doesnt anybody here like EMG's in there Teles? I see nothing really about them. Why?

It all depends on what kinda Tele tone you like. Most of the crowd here likes the Vintage type tone like the original 50's Teles had. Thats the tone you had with the original pickups that were in your Muddy Waters Signature Tele.
Nothing on earth says you HAVE to like that tone so you got the EMG's and are happy with them. Think of it this way. I love ICE CREAM but there are a couple flavors that I just dont like that doesnt mean all ICE Cream is bad. Enjoy your EMG's everyone I talk to that has them loves them so enjoy what ya got. |

EMG preference
Your right; to each his or her own. I always loved the guitar playing of Don Rich by the way, he made the Buckaroos! I cant seem to buy a guitar and keep the original Pups anyway. I love to experiment. Thanks

I hate them!
I really wanted to like them because I like the 85,89,60 and SA's that I have in my other guitars, but they just seemed to clip to much and if I lowered the pickup height as suggested, they got all wimpy. I bought them second hand through the mail and i guess I was hoping they would be like an inexpensive version of Barden tele pickups. I would love to hear what your opinion is as I am wondering if there is something wrong with mine.I actually think the SA's sound more like tele pickups than the T's do.

EMG's in my Muddy
First let me tell you; my guitar tech is a genius and a real Luthier. He studied under Steve Vai and makes wonderful guitars for all types of celebs. I think these pups are some of the best I've ever heard and so does my tech John. The sound is unbelievabley clean and responsive to pick attack. I can make it do anything I want within its capabilities which are startleing. I have the David Gilmore setup in my California Strat and that guitar rocks and Dimarzio Virtual Vintage in another Strat; that guitar is whisper quiet and gets down too. I wont change any of them or sell them. My pup height is as close to the strings as possible. It really shouldn't matter anyway; they're active pups. Lots of Tele's here in Las Vegas with EMG's . Good luck, Rob

No, not yet. I play pretty soft (live in a condo) but occasionally I let it rip and these pups just wail. I use a 99 Fender HRDeluxe with NOS Slyvanias. A great combo! Good luck! Find a good and "friendly" tech. Bob
