CV 50s Tele bridge pup replacement?

I've had my CV 50s for a while now and don't gig with it because the bridge pup has a bit too much treble. I know, turn down the treble on the amp right? Well that messes with the neck tone. So I'd like a recomendation for a hotter-warmer bridge pup for my pine body CV 50s. I have drunk the D. Allen koolaid and it is good, but I don't want a full set and can't afford one now anyway. So recommendations for singles?

I'm tempted to trade pups with my son's tele, which has a GFS 10K pup in it. What say you?

Thanks

Check out roadhousepickups.com seriously the very best pickups I've owned...& I've owned lots.

For really cheap the GFS stuff will do but honestly roadhouse pups aren't much more & they are hand wound & mind blowing!

Sent from my iPhone using TDPRI which ROCKS!

Which do you have? The CV 50's BSB pickups are Alnico 5, and the CV 50's VB are Alnico III. I have the CV 50's Alnico III bridge pup in my eSXquire and it rocks!

Before you replace it you may find that you'll back that treble off nicely just by lowering that side of the pickup. Then you might try lowering the treble setting on the guitar itself rather than the amp.

I seldom run my tone wide open where the tone pot is completely out of the mix unless I'm playing in the series setting or on some solos. Backing it off just a bit 10%-30% will take some of the shrill out of the higher strings and balance the tone out more evenly across the board.

Just a thought.

I too have a CV50 tele and replaced the bridge pickup with a Fralin Blues Special (slightly hotter/warmer). Just what you're asking for! Classic Tele tone with all of the versatility you expect from a Tele.

Ditto to lowering treble pup side

See my recent post.."unorthodox pickup slant". I have a CV50 as well.
