Let's try this

Hello all,

How about we all vote, by directing the fraternity here to the Youtube bits that have the best Neck Pickup sound and the best Bridge Pickup sound ?

It's a bit subjective but I'd be interrested to see just what folks here think is THE SOUND for each of the two pickups. I'd be willing to bet they'll be pretty different

Gary

I think that there are too many ideas of what is the perfect tone that you will have a hard time finding consensus...

Good luck!

Totally subjective would not be half of it.

You have (2) camps....single coil army and humbuckies

No one would deny SRV neck pu sound while Bonamassa 59bucker neck is so so sweet.

hmmm.. I will have to see what else is posted.

Happy friday

i'm willing to bet that few folks will agree on anything.

nice try, but your concept is just far too fraught with ambiguous subjectivity.

the only way to know how a pup will sound for You, is to stick it in one of yer guitars, plug in and You play it through your rig. anything else is a crap shoot. wish it were different, but that wouldn't be reality ....

Wow 24 hours and not a single offering

Does this mean we collectively don't know what the perfect Telecaster sound is ( forget the humbucker camp by the way I'm talking a Telecaster)

There must be 100 threads on this site with the " What Makes A Telecaster A Telecaster " question. These always get remarks, and in some cases go on and on

Now here's a chance to not only express what you feel is The Sound but direct the fraternity to hear what you are talking about ................

I don't get it, aren't we talking about sound ?

Sorry, this sounded like all p/u

Tele would have to be nocasters for bridge
and
antiquities for neck

By the time the sound guy in the studio finished with miking plus bringing it in direct plus fuzz & stereo echo panning you wouldn't be able to tell what I was playing - could have been anything but was a tele.

There is no answer to the question.

any and all offerings would be/are highly biased

"perfect" is ALWAYS in the ears of the beholder

There must be 100 threads on this site with the " What Makes A Telecaster A Telecaster " question. These always get remarks, and in some cases go on and on

doesn't mean those threads are any different than this one

read what's already been posted here. it's like trying to define a color/hue - something that only the beholder can accept or reject.

there is never a correct answer to any "what's best" question - just as there is equally never a wrong answer.

My pickups are wound completely around a 5e3. Believe it or not, bridge is 42awg @6k. .688 mags. Neck is 42 awg @5k. .688 mags, nickel silver cover. Both are unpotted and A3.

i know you dig that underwound microphone sound ... in the right hands, right git, right amp, right everything, it's killer. not for everyone, and not everyone can pull it all off like you, fezzmeister.

Thank you Rob. Funny, on the rare occasion I use my BF Super Reverb, bass and mids are wide open. Treble is maybe at 25%.
