Strat Esquire bridge pup
I am finally finishing up my Strat Esquire, and looking for a humbucker sized pup that is not too hot, just jangly...maybe a Lollartron? Any other suggestions? This will be for some Cowboy Surf Jazz....

Duncan Jazz. Like a low-wind PAF.

Sorry....yes, it is a hard tail strat with only a bridge humbucker. Cowboy Surf Jazz is the only way I can think to describe my sound. Mostly cleans with various amounts of reverbs and delays, sometimes neck pickup is used, sometimes the bridge pickup. I am looking for something to replace the current pickup in the guitar which is too hot.

Mean 90 would be fun, but I like the look of no covers on Strats.
I'm doing a similar project and just ordered a single Duncan SH-16 (the new '59/Custom Hybrid). "The SH-16 Model 59/Custom Hybrid provides a versatile sweet spot between the 59 and Custom models. This pickup has a versatile blend of classic and modern tones. The SH-16 combines the lush, vintage sound of the SH-1/'59 model with the hotter crunch of the SH-5/Duncan Custom humbuckers. Recommended for blues, rock, pop, and classic rock. The SH-16 Model 59/Custom Hybrid uses a unique hybrid construction that pairs a '59 Alnico V screw coil with a Custom Ceramic slug coil for crisp, clear highs, powerful lows, and a complex midrange growl. Use in the bridge position with any vintage-output neck humbucker, such as the '59n or the Alnico II Pro. Expect crisp, clear highs, ample lows, and aggressive midrange growl in humbucking mode. Splitting the coils yields the strong, full sound of the Custom coil with its 7.1k DC resistance. The dynamics are superb: the '59/Custom Hybrid snarls when you dig in, but cleans up when you lighten up. This powerful, versatile and expressive pickup is particularly well suited to lead guitar work." |

Cute! I like different & artistic expression. I did a asian tele to esquire with polowania wood body, maple neck, eldred mod, oil filled .005 pf cap (cocked wah) and a Amalfitano tp (9k) pick up, and I absolutely love it. Very happy with the quality of Jerry Amalfitano's product. Good luck on your project.
