Callaham / Fralin tele pickups ???

Anyone try these ??

I had a friend just call me and was GUSSING about them ( compared to reg Fralins ). He has Hamels, Lollars, Voodoos, etc.. and these are his favorite !! This was his second set

I guess Callaham cryogenically treats them or something.

I built a relic strat for someone w/ these and the guitar sounded REALLY REALLY good - but I'm not a strat guy and didnt have a real reference point

anyone try the tele set ??

I believe they are all wound to Bills specs which I believe is 3% underwound.
I have a set from Fralin that I bought in 93
( strat pups)

While talking to Callaham on the phone a few years ago we got to talking about the Fralins & he said that is what he specs. Meaning the way Fralin originally wound them. But bending to pressure Lindy slowly increased the outputs as that is what folks requested.

You can still get them in their original flavors from either Callaham or Lindy.

The Strat pickups are 3% underwound, but the Tele pickups are stock wound (I recently asked Callaham about this). Callaham also repots them and gives them a cryo treatment.

I was close to ordering a set from Callaham, but after talking to someone at Fralin about what I was after, they suggested I go with a hotter pickup like the blues special.

I'm still curious if anyone has experience with the stock Fralins?

I have a set of the Callaham/Fralins on the Muttcaster and they are really nice. I used a TX Tele neck for years, but when I finally tried the C/F neck, I was rewarded with more clarity, better balance, and just an overall prettier sound. It can sound almost acoustic whereas the TX Tele was sometimes a little muddy or bass-heavy.
