difference between guitar and bass pups?

What's the difference between a standard 6 string guitar pickup and a bass pickup, apart form size and the pole pieces? Do they vary in output level and frequency?

I ask because I've seen this vid where the guy uses bass pickups to build a stomp box. It sounds pretty good but I was wondering if a guitar pickup would work as well.

pretty cool link. I don't know why a guitar pup wouldn't work...I wouldn't use anything fancy though...LOL how about a take off Tele bridge pup in a knock off bridge plate and the neck pup at the other end...4-way switchw/Esquire wiring and the Elrod mod?Yikes!

if you're looking for a better low end tone bass pickups are the way to go, but hotter guitar pickups should work okay as well. If you're looking for more of a snare tone less hot pickups such as tele pickup should work well.
