broadcaster !
Hi all, first post in pickups forum. I m looking for a pickup to put in a partscaster project, and i d like to emulate my original brodcaster sound. I don t want to spend a fortune, just a good sounding pickup. But i don t want it too twangy, the broadcasters have not a properly tele sound, it s a little less twangy and more beefy. Just unique. I saw S Duncan -for example- makes a replica, but he uses alnico 5, not 3. And 0.42 gauge, not .43. Any suggestions? And which one in the neck, to match it? Thanx in advance,
Cheers! |

Contact Chris Klein of Klein Pickups. His website is very informative and has sound clips of his pups, plus his input is very helpful if you email him. I have his pickups in both my Tele and Strat.

+1 trillion on the Klein Broadcaster bridge pickup. That's what's in my Esquire right now and it is just awesome. And by the way, it sounds even better than the sound clips...

In my 60's style, I'm using one of these:
http://www.pickupwizard.com/index.ph..._Style_Pickups I really dig it. Very Tele, but with a soft edge to the highs - even w/o a compressor, there's a certain elasticity to the notes that I dig. Nice mids too. I'm my 50's style, I'm using Rob DiStefano's Cavalier. Great pickup for my needs. Very 'open', non-nasal tone, but with really nice mids that round the whole thing out. Really dig it. http://frettech.com/cavalier/ |
