Area T vs American Standard PUs
Going to pick up a new american standard tele tomorrow. I know I want noiseless pickups and I know I want the Dimarzio Area T (not the hot version).
1) My question is do they sound more or less bright that the american standard? 2) Also, I get a great clean sound out of my American standard now and my twin reissue around 6-7 vol. Will the higher amount of output on the Dimarios add alot of added distortion (push the tubes harder)? no matter the answers i feel i should be able to tweek the amp and guitar tone to mimic what I have going now with the single coils I have going now right or am i totally off base with this assumtion? |

Don't know the answer to your 1st question, but lower output pups can only be tweaked so much. I have the new Di Marzio 615 in and it's similar to the Twang King without the noise.
The high strings still sound brighter than with my other Tele with a higher output pup no matter what adjustments i make. The good news is you can tame that brightness somewhat with settings and pedals depending on what you have.
