Puncher in a Buckshot

Well, I finally got around to swapping the bridge pickup in my Reverend Buckshot. The stock tele-style single coil (body-mounted) is nice, but I already have my perfect tele sound in another guitar. I think what the Buckshot wants to be is an alternate-universe tele. Also, I don't have a HH guitar. Since I had a L'il Puncher XL 10K sitting around, I tried it. Very very nice. It complements the RevTron mini-HB neck pickup beautifully, and didn't take much experimenting with height to balance out nicely. It's still very twangy, but has more bite. It also responds very well to the Bass Contour Control that Reverend uses.

I would have to say that this makes the Buckshot my best all-rounder. My tele is for sure a better tele, and my LP w/P90s is nastier, but this comes close to both while also doing the nice warm HB thing that they really can't quite do.

(If anyone else out there is swapping Buckshot bridge pickups, I should point out that the plate on the L'il Puncher was a very tight squeeze in the cavity. I don't know if the cavity is a bit small or the plate is a bit big, but if it was any tighter, adjustment might be a problem. Luckily, it worked out fine.)

Thanks for the heads-up...

on the cavity issue -- been thinking of dropping in an Area T to get the Buckshot into noiseless territory for playing it out. Never thought of the GFS rails...

Id also like to swap the bridge pup to something without the noise for playing on stage in church. Can anyone point me to some other options for a drop in bridge replacement that is noiseless?
