Any experience with OC Duff Buckaroo pickups?

Going to be putting together another partscaster exclusively for country gigs. Looking for a Bakersfield type tone ala Don Rich, Roy Nichols, Gene Moles, James Burton and Pete Anderson. Thinking of the Mare Hayrides too. Seeking twang and clarity, but no shrillness or ice pick.

I don't have experience with the "Buckaroos", but I do have experience with Owens pickups. His website descriptions are usually pretty acurate to what you end up with.

You wouldn't go wrong with either of the guys you've mentioned. You can email Owen and Don likes the Tele-phone, or used to. Both will be more than willing to set you in the right direction for the Bakersfield sound. Have fun!

Owen is very good at listening to what the player needs/wants. I bet if you tell him what tone(s) you're looking for, he will make it happen for you.

Pickups alone wont get you there..but you know that already A warm amp with proper settings couldn't hurt much either Any AlNico 3 or 5 low output pup somewhere between 5.7 and 6.5k ..preferably with staggered poles added to the above mentioned will do very well.

Other than that ..above all else, is the ability to mimick those playing styles from the artist you listed. The ability itself, will get you further than all the hardware mentioned above in my O-pinion

Don't overlook the Fender '62 RI bridge pu. You can get it with a real Fender bridge w/3 steel saddles [which are a big part of that tone] from Ebay seller Angela Instruments in the $50 range.

"tele-phone" comm.device not for Gibby owners?

Lollar Special T Series are anything but shrill or ice-picky. Lots of twang and muscle with a smooth top end, to my ears anyway. Just installed the bridge pup a couple days ago.

Went ahead and ordered a set from Owen. Spoke to a couple different makers, and Owen was certainly the most pleasant and most attentive IMHO. He took the time to discuss what I wanted and seemed to actually listen. This was much appreciated, I'm looking forward to getting these from him.

He is a great guy! I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I have his Bigboy pickup and am very pleased. I would definitely make another purchase from him when the time comes for more pickups.
