Anyone use GFS PUs...
... in their tele? I put a set of their mini-hums in a Epi LP and can't find anything bad to say about them. I know musicmatty likes his GFS Pro Series Hot 63 bridge pup. Anyone else have success?

I had a set in a strat, their premium vintage overwounds, and I'd put them up against any other pickup of similar style. A win in my book.

I used their Strat pickups as well as a few different humbuckers and P90s but not any Tele pickups yet. Absolutely no complaints on any that I've used so far. Some day I'll have to try a set in a Tele.

I had a set of hard vintage neo-vins in a parts tele. Not bad for the money. Very quiet. I just didnt like the overall guitar when it was done. The pups were a little bass heavy but had a good sound.

The Mini '59 "Vintage" wound 8.6 and 7.5k set. They are very musical and between a p90 and full-sized HB as advertised. No complaints for blues/rock.
Problem somewhat lies in their exaggerated descriptions of their tele PUs. It seems they all have "Enormous bottom and the Snappiest spank." Hard to wade through the hyperbole, so I thought I would ask those that would never exaggerate - you all. peace |

I ordered 2 10K and 1 7K Tele bridges. They came all 10K.They, my 3 overwound Strats, and and both 8K and 4K Lipsticks all have had a harsh top end using various guitar and amp combos. The Dream 90 is ok top end wise.I got that first then ordered all the rest at once.

I have the XL punchers in 3 of my teles and love them. I've gotten 1 bad pickup from GFS, emailed them immediately, they said another one was on the way and not to even bother sending the bad one back.
I've had no bad luck with any of their pickups, be it Gibby or Gretsch or Tele style.

Used GFS vintage neovins on a tele I just built - they sound fantastic. I am just about to install a pair of GFS pickups on another tele I am building - they arrived this week - they are - a I29 Repro 1950'S Telecaster Alnico Boutique Bridge Pickup and a I07 Alnico Tele Neck Pickup- Classic Chrome Cover. Together they cost about $52. I also have GFS vintage style alnicos on a gretsch 5120 and I love them. I think that they are really great quality at an incredible price. As much as I sometimes jones for some expensive hand wound boutique pickups, I must admit to having really great experience with the GFS models. I also have ordered somewhat "underwound" vintage styles for the sound I want - that's vinatge 50s blues tones. So I don't go for the super hot overwound types.

I use their "Vintage Voiced" tele bridge pup in combo with their "Mini Crunchy Neck Position" and think they sound great together. The middle switch position sounds especially chunky. Be sure and use the green wire as the "hot" when wiring the humbucker.
(If I am building a t-style with a "standard" pup combo I'll switch to Keystones.) Yeah, their ad copy is over the top, but it probably sells more items than just saying "good value for your money". At some point I am going to try their Retrotron clones.
