Burstbucker only giving half volume

Hi
Anyone got any idea why a Burstbucker only gives half volume all of a sudden? Is there an obvious fault that is easily corrected?
Cheers

It might have a break in the wire wound around the coils. I was given a lap steel years ago that had very low output, as in, having to turn my 65 watt amp up to full volume to hear it. Read the resistance of the pickup with an ohmmeter, and it read open (infinite resistance). If you can check it with a multimeter on the ohms setting, it should read around 8 to 8.5 Kohms (8000 to 8500 ohms). Unfortunately, not a quick fix, if that's the problem? Hope this helps.

You didn't mention this but if that pick-up goes to zero volume when you turn down the tone control it's probably time for a rewind or new one.
