Pickup Issue

Hey guys,

I recently put together a warmoth partscaster and I used a Dimarzio Area T in the bridge. It has a nice sound, but it has a peculiar response.
A couple of the strings sound dull compared to how the others sound while being struck individually. It just seems to be inconsistent from string to string. It may not be the p-up at all and possibly something in my set up, but I just thought I would check to see if any of you had similar issues using the same pickup.

Thanks for your help.

I hear that's a nice pickup. Unless it's defective I don't think that's it. It could be the saddles, bad strings (yes new ones can be bad) but I'd think most likely maybe it's the nut not quite cut correctly? Just guessing. It could be none of these.

Hey Old Cane, yeah...that's just it - It's hard to tell what the real issue is.
I really don't really want to try another pickup. It's kind of a hassle and then it may not even be the problem.

Those pickups are fairly sensitive to height so i would play around with that first, it's free and you play the guitar!

You're not kidding. It is VERY sensitive to height. It's been up and down and all around brother. Too close to the strings gives you greater output, but you also get a very abrupt attack and then nothing. It just stops right after the attack. I think I've found a good balance so far.

have you soldered it directly to the output jack JUST to make sure nothing inbetween is causing issues.

and how's the action and radius.

I'd suspect the nut, or some other problem with the setup.
