Tapped coil pickup
Howdy all,
I have a duncan tele bridge pu that is tapped at 7ohm and 11 ohms. What would happen if you wired it for both taps at the same time? good tone to all, RK |

Just about the same as the 7 ohm tap. The pickup has one ground wire, and two hot leads, one for the full pickup, and one for the tap. If you connected both hot leads to hot, you would end up shorting out the top half (electrons will take the shorter path). There would be a very slight difference, since you'll have an extra resistance in parallel with portion of the coil that is in play, but you might not even hear it.
