Rob, sorry i haven't looked back in this thread but will just ask, do these Cavalier Lion Tele/Esquire bridge pickups your sending out have staggered poles for rights only?

I'm glad Revv23 brought that up as i am a lefty player also. Of course they will have to be wound backwards also

yes, flat flush tops, non-staggered poles. the prime purpose of the test Lion is to give anyone a chance to try the pup out in their guitar, through their rig, with them playing. the selling part is always totally optional, it doesn't matter to me one way or the other. so, for less than $6 usps priority shipping you get to play with a Lion for a week or so. that's what this "try me out" thing is all about, taking a Lion Tele/Esquire pup out for a road trip spin in your guitar(s).

Any chance of doing this with a neck pickup?

thought about that more than a few times and always come to the conclusion that i never liked tele neck pups. firstly, look at the why they were created and what their design was/is all about.

i much prefer a well wound strat pup in the tele neck position. now i've got the best of both fender worlds - a bluesy strat neck tone and a honkin' tele bridge tone. ahhhhh, tele life is good.

I would try one out, but I already have one in my DiStefano telepartacaster! It's real, and it's fabulous!

Strat pickup fit in a standard bridge? I never thought of that.

yes, a strat pup without a cover will fit a tele pickguard neck pickup route. the pup's coil winding can be protected with black tape. when i build a tele, i fit it wtih Lion tele bridge and Tiger strat neck pups, and i route the tele pickguard to accept a strat pickup - either covered or string wound.

cavalier dogs and cavalier "pups"

Why not a tele neck pickup that sounds like a Strat pickup then?

a strat bobbin allows a larger coil footprint than a tele neck pup bobbin. it's all about the 42awg coil turn count, the turn count, the turn count ...

there are more than a few mp3 sound clips on my website ...

www.frettech.com/cavalier

... but you are always better off testing out any pickup in your guitar(s), through your outboard gear, with you playing. hence this "try me out" thread.

if you wish to get in on the lion test queue, pm or email me directly.

Order placed

Order placed for a Tele set and a Strat set. I loves me some loud fat single coils.
