AF75 Upgrade: GFS content

I'm planing on swapping out the buckers in my jazz box for something a bit more open sounding, and GFS has a low cost selection. I'm leaning towards a mean 90 (p90) in the neck and a Liverpool (Filtrotron) in the bridge position. This would be a bit like Duane Eddie's Gretsch, and give two different sounds
I might order a second mean 90 in case that one sounds better, and get a two p90 axe.
What do you think? I don't use much in the way of effects, and my sound is between clean and overdriven depending on the guitars volume, playing rock, pop, blues, and even just strumming it like an acoustic with the volume turned down.

I have not actually heard the mean 90's, but I am considereing them (and other GFS pups) for a Dot I just bought. There are a couple of threads discussing the mean 90's and people seem to really like them a lot.

I'm in the same situation: I'm thinking one of the retrotrons in the bridge but, for some reason, the AlNiCo II neck humbucker has my interest for the neck. I realize they aren't necessarily a good match to be used together (but ya never know); it would be more of two-guitars-in-one result.

Fezz Parka, recently quit winding P90s. Once of the reasons he cited was that even the really cheap P90s sound good. I would imagine these fall into that category. I can tell you the P90s in my Samick Jazzmaster sound pretty darn good.

I put Nashville Retrotrons in my semi-hollow, and they brought it to life. The bridge pickup especially. I haven't tried the Mean 90s, but they were my other choice when I was trying to decide what to put in it. I think the combo you're looking at might be pretty good.

It's hard to eff up a P90 besides overwinding it. A simple elegant design. Even ceramic ones sound good.

I put the Liverpools in my AF75.If you're looking for a faithful Filtertron look elsewhere. But if you want a great sounding p/up with that Filtertron vibe they're all over it. Couldn't be happier with mine.

I swapped in a pair of Kent Armstrong "humbucker-sizedP90s" when I acquired my Artcore some years back. While they don't provide much of a P90 true tone, for me the single coil clarity is a complete imrovement over the stock humbuckers.

I'd put Mean 90s in both positions. I'm not a huge Guitar Fetish fan but they hit it out of the park with these. More clarity in the mids compared to a real P90 and the pure nickel cover provides good shielding without dulling the highs.
