Wolfetone pickups??

Anyone use these? I got a set of Tele '52 AVs that I considered sending to him for a rewind (they're kind of tone dead). The pricing on his rewinds is reasonable.

I've never owned a set but have heard and played his pickups, Outstanding ( imo ) pickups, to say the least. Lollar, Wolfe, OC Duff, SK, Fralin, Electrokraft, et al, have it going on as far as tele, strat pups. As far as re-winds, Lollars are the only ones I've heard and they were stunning in their vintage accuracy. Are you going for a vintage wind or something with a bit more teeth? Don't forget to check out Dave Stephens. He's another terrific pickup maker, re-winder.

Thanks BB. I'm thinking of going the "more teeth" route.
I was thinking of just having the '52's wound differently since I already have them, I'd save a couple of bucks. Lollars are going to be next on the list, but those will be for from-ground-up ,new projects. I also considered having O.C. rewind them. I've kind of given up waiting on the Hamels (no disrespect intended, I've heard about his wife. Alan, if you're reading this, God bless). I had Dave Stephens wind me some Strat p'ups and I've talked to him recently about the Little Charley, but never thought about having him rewind these, hmmm....What do they say about two heads?

I haven't played his original wind pups, but I had him wax pot a G&L pickup once and yakked with him for awhile in his shop. He's a super nice guy and studied pickups carefully before starting to wind and sell his own. I'd give him a shot if I needed a rewind.

Sounds like a plan to me! Think I'll end up giving him a shot at it, His prices for rewinds are cheaper than anyone elses so I can't go wrong I guess.

If his prices for re-winds are less than the rest, by all means give him a shot. I think you'll be very happy with the results. To paraphrase the other post, he is very studied in all things relating to pickups. Please let us know the results once you ahve them back. Good luck!
