55 champ lap pickup in strat bridge?

i found a 1955 champ lap steel pickup that is a direct drop in for my 57 reissue strat. i put it in the bridge with the stock fender 57/62 pu's in the neck and middle and it sounds great. only problem is when the pickup selector is in position 4 (middle+bridge) its very quiet and thin. just wondering if anyone knows what i did wrong. thanks for any advice!!

Switch the bridge pickup wire locations and see if that helps.

Yes, the bridge pickup is most likely out of phase with the middle. Just unsolder the leads and reverse them (i.e. active to ground, negative to selector switch). You should get a rich and spanky quack tone in pos 4. with that setup.

Switching leads will change the tone and make it darker. If it doesn't bother you or you can't hear it , fine, if it does , just get a Super Switch so you can flip phase for 2.( Fender numbers from the Bridge,I'd start at the Neck also).
