Supro Lap Steel Pickup Construction

Hey guys, I've received a National Lap Steel guitar like this but without the "fancy" Pearl finish and inlays

I've tried looking all over for a site showing somebody rebuilding the pickup. The one in mine has no wire or bobbin type of material so consequently I'm a little dumbstruck at how to rebuild it.

I saw a picture where there was a magnet between both pole piece lines but I thought the magnets on the sides did the magnifying (with help form the top piece). I know it is hum cancelling like a P-Bass or Electric XII pickup but still retains a grunty single coilish sound. Does anybody have insight or pictures they took of the rebuilding process? This plays real nice and I want to let it have some play time with an amp.
