Is my Nashville... um... tarnished?
I just got a Nashville Tele that is loaded with 3 alnico V Hot Noiseless Strat pups. Its a custom job done by a really good local shop. The neck pup routed to fit pick guard flawlessly - all looks good. To me, it still sounds like a Tele should, twangy and a little bit raw. It doesn't sound like my Roadhouse Strat (texas specials pups) for sure.
Anyway, would I be better served popping the old Tele Tex-Mex pups back in? Would that make it more "Tele?" I still have the old pups. I'm new to the forum and I'd imagine some folks here would scream blasphemy and say my "custom" Nashville is... tainted. Lol. |

hot noiseless pu's
Can you post a pic? I'd like to see how they mounted a Strat pickup in the Tele bridge.
I personally like the Fender Hot Noiseless Strat pickups a lot, I wish they would make a Tele set of Hot Noiseless pickups. |

despite what people say, i think telecaster is a shape, put whatever PUPs you like in it, its still a nashville just a modded nashvile, dont change for anyone bro, if it sounds great and you love it, dont change, i love the tex mex tele neck pup, but thats not what makes a nashville a nashville, its a nashville because fender called it a nashville, its your guitar just have fun, my nashville has a lollar imperial humbucker in the bridge, stil a nashville

Well, here it is. It's a '00 MIM Deluxe Nashville Power Telecaster - has the Fishman Powerbridge with the piezo pickup under the bridge, which is still there but disconnected. Not really interested in the piezo, though. I traded my Blacktop Strat for this Tele. Hope I made out OK!!!

I recently got a standard tele and it has the standard neck pup in it and I can tell a difference even just between the Tex Mex in my Nashville and the neck pup in my standard. I also have my bro in-laws cyclone which has a Tex Mex strat pup in the neck and they sound real similar to the tele Tex Mex, IMO the Tex Mex has less bass, more clarity and a very nice mid and treble, I'm all about the Tex Mex pups, but if you want alot of bass the Tex Mex is not what you want, wiring guitars isn't too hard so try your hand at it and just see what you like
