What bridge pickup to go with a 50s-wind P-90 in the neck?

The guitar is a medium-weight alder Tele with a maple neck. I want it to rock pretty hard while still having an old-school sound. I'm looking at a Fred Stuart lapwrap pickup to put in the bridge position. From what I have read on this forum, this is the pickup that Fred wound for all of Keef's teles.

Just looking for a BIG sound with no ice-pick in the highs. What do you suggest?

A Fralin Blues Special or a Lollar Special-T would probably work well.

A Lawrence L-48TL should do the trick.

Who made the P-90? Ask them for a recommendation.

Any overwound Tele bridge pickup should do the trick. You want the overwinding because the strings don't vibrate as widely near the bridge and you don't want that P-90 overpowering your bridge pickup.

chcknpckngtr I own a Stuart Lapwrap and love it !! I've had mine for 5 years and continue to like it more and more. If you are looking for the "Keef" sound this is it. Big full sound, and Old School all the way. Very dynamic. Have you spoken with Jason @ Virtual Vintage Guitars ? If not give him a call he is wonderful to deal with. If Jason can't answer your questions he will consult with Fred and get back to you with Fred's response.

Johnny -- I have actually decided on the Lap Wrap, but now I'm not sure what neck pickup to go with it. I think a Lollar P90 would be really cool, but now I'm wondering if a Firebird pickup or Filtertron would be great, too.

What non-traditional neck pickup would best go with a Lap Wrap bridge? I'm basically wanting a BIG sounding tele with a good neck pickup for slide and fat clean tones.
