installing barden t-neck. help?

hello, this is my first post. nice forum.

i just got a barden t-neck off of ebay and am anxious to get in my tele plus. i have several questions. any help is greatly appreciated. first, do i need to get a new pickguard? if so, is there a name or part number for this other pickguard? the lace sensor is slightly bigger and the pickup mounting screws are a bit too far apart and there is a lot of open space around the barden. second, i am not getting any output resistance from this pickup. what am i doing wrong? there is a black and green lead, and a shorter (too short) black lead that appears to be the red+white. i don't want to be able to split this pickup. my wish is to continue to use the 3 way switch as with the lace. peace,kb

Barden

I installed one in my Tele. Before installing, I checked the resistance of each coil and found both to be "open" because the connections from the wires to the coils' wires needed re-heating. 3 of the 4 were bad. The re-heating worked and no problems since.

"No resistance" would be ~O ohms which would mean a "shorted" coil (or 2.) Not likely in a pickup, especially a new one. I forget the color codes but 2 wires should be joined together and the other 2 are the "hot" and "ground." This would be for the normal series connection that's recommended.

I was looking for volume that could keep up with the loud stock bridge. It fits that bill well. Mine is close to level with the guard for volume parity. IIRC there's no "cover" so don't let the sides of it touch the guard. Sounds like it won't since it has the cut-out for a Lace Sensor.

thanks JJMan, yes i am getting output impedance now. i don't know why i couldn't get it earlier. perhaps ebay buyer anxiety? i discovered that i will have to get a new pickguard. i received a suggestion which made good sense to me: to get longer set screws and mount the pickup to the body itself instead of the pickguard. does anybody have comments/suggestions for this? if so, lemme know. peace,kb
