Seymour Duncan Solderless P/U System
A new pot/hook-up from Duncan allows you to install pups quickly, w/o soldering. 250 & 500K
I say it's a long time coming, a way to switch & install pups fast, -no, it won't affect tone - But Plenty of people will be resistant to any change...

It is about damn time.
I have no problem using a soldering iron myself but why make it hard? This way I can swap pickups out really easily. Sign me up.

Sounds awesome... I saw the demo video they put out already. Maybe one day even I will be able to change my own pickups...

EMG's works only with EMG pickups.
Liberator seems to be pretty much universal, for passive pickups anyway.

Well....as long as you don't have a semi or full hollowbody. That's ALWAYS a pain and, with my poor experience and skills, a three or four-hand job (instead of a two-hand job).

I don't know about this..
I don't like the connector PC board attached to the pot, what happens if / when the pot goes bad? or if you want a different taper / value pot?
A seperate board with the connectors would be better if you have to go solderless IMO. |

I think this system looks like a winner, I'll probably try one out.

I dunno, Guitar Player says it comes in 250K and 500K values and costs $24...I figure anyone willing to spend $24 for the ability to change pickups without soldering (and I might be one of those myself) wouldn't balk too much at paying another $24 if the pot goes bad.

Nope, the EMG one works for passive pickups, too. SD offering a solderless system now seems to be yet another side-effect of Seymour Duncan's collaboration with Rob Turner for D-TAR. Not that I mind, it was about time.

I think we think alike, but I wasn't going to touch that one with a ten-foot pole...
