Fender Nocaster pickups vs. Texas Specials

I am looking to experiment with new pickups in my Highway One Tele with maple board. I'm looking to spend in this price range and was wondering the differences between these 2 sets.

I am the single guitarist in a Top 40 cover band if that matters.

Thanks in advance!

from my ears, the NoCasters are "hotter" and closer to real vintage 50s' tele tone and are my preference, The TS are hot as well, but more of a 70s tone, meaning more mids than treble or bass compared. you might get different results in your guitar though

I'd recommend Texas Specials. Nice overwound rock/blues tone. If you play Country a lot (I don't), then you probably would prefer Nocasters.

Personally I like the Texas Specials more... but hey I'm from Texas.

They are both excellent tho.. I think the Nocasters are more twangy, classic sounding.. and the TS are more "Albert Collins" like, a little hotter.

Both great sets but really different. To me the TS set have a great rock crunch quality. Still bright and spanky but a real overwound grind quality.

The Nocaster's have a more vintage quality but still are fairly hot....closer to a Keith Richard's rock sound but still twang.

If it were my only Tele...had to pick just one...I'd go with the Nocaster set only because you can capture more of the traditional tone with those.

They're virtually the same pickup with the difference being the stagger on the TS's.

In bold is everything you need to know.

Inductance determines the resonant peak of the pickup.
