Zhangbucker Paul Bunyans??? Any experience

I happened upon some soundclips with these pu's and think I may have found the sound I'm after...

Just wondering if there's any experience or opinions on these?

No seriously, can you tell anything about the nuances of the pickup from that?

i was thinking the same thing - the forward cocked wah position sounds different and not in a good way - i have heard fans of this setup don't use the cocked wah sound for playing clean, but it sounds better when used for dirty/distorted sounds - as always, ymmv -

I have one and I like it, beefier than a normal tele, but if you roll the volume back a little it get's a more vintage sound, I have it set up quiet low (far away from the strings). The guy who makes them is sound, and very helpful. I think he kinda makes them to order, so you may be waiting a couple of weeks for one. He made this in a set for me with a mini-hum and a strat middle and I'm really happy with the whole set.

Yes they are made to order and it takes a few weeks to get them I ordered mine on Sept and they should be here this week I believe he still has a sale going on right now too it was 15 off each pickup which is cheaper than a lot of new non boutique pickups

I have the Super PBs.

They don't really "twang". Not muddy, but not twangy either.

I like them better with amps that are a bit mid-scooped. They have pretty strong mids that can get a bit honky/nasally to my ear with certain amps. But with the right amp, they flat-out rawk.

I think I put a clip of them on here somewhere.

I would expect the regular PBs to be a bit brighter in the top and less pronounced in the mids.

But David's a fantastic guy to deal with.

Jethro, I'm downtown. Shoot me a pm if you want to come over and hear them first hand and we'll see what we can arrange.

Cheers,
Geoff
