Please help me find out what pickups I have
When I bought my Am Std Tele the seller said he'd installed "custom shop" pickups. Now, I didn't care what sort of pickups they were cause the price was right and I wanted the guitar. Now that I have money to upgrade the pups I wanna sell the old ones but can't call'em "custom shop" if I don't know what they are. Can you guys help me? How would I do this?
Here's the nice looking bridge plate and a picture of the pickups from the front. The magnets are not staggered and if I remember right readings were 7-ish on the bridge and 5-ish on the neck. Any help is GREATLY appreciated. ![]()

I got your reply but I had it so that the reply would come as a txt on notepad and it said it couldn't display cause of a popup blocker or something. Is there a way I could talk to you and avoid that?

Doesn't this have 4 pickups? I am not very knowledgeable about guitars. My roomate has got a guitar here that we are trying to identify the vintage on....it has 4 pickups. Made in Japan......model removed....got any suggestions for where to look or who to ask?

Cloth wire.... then that's my guess they are Original Vintage. Yes used in the 52AVRI
Sorry now I realize that the original vintage BRIDGE pickups I know of have a YELLOW and black wire so I don't know if they ever had white and black like the neck ?? http://www.fender.com/products/searc...tno=0992119000 To measure while they are in the guitar, put one meter probe on the back of a pot (earth) then the other on the pickup wire attached to the switch. When you measure the neck pickup, put the selector switch all the way to the back (nearest the volume control). When you measure the bridge pickup, put the selector switch all the way forward ( neck position). Then the respective pickup being measured isn't connected to the pot circuits ( volume and tone)

Guess who left their multimeter in California....
Even if I did measure it....who knows what they are, right? They certainly LOOK like the OV and they sound great. Is it really hopeless? |
