Lollar Special Ts or Texas Specials

Howdy guys, I've decided I need new pickups so I've narrowed the field down to these two: Lollar Special Ts or Fender Texas Specials. I've heard many great comments about the Fenders, I am mainly interested in knowing if the Lollars are worth the extra money. I'm looking for something to push the amp a little bit harder. My guitar is a Squier CV 50 and my amp is a Blues Jr. These are the two videos I used to make my decision. Anybody have any useful comments, I would love to hear...

Theres no right or wrong in these pups..just a matter of taste. I can speak from my own exper..of the Texas Specials and will say that they are very pleasing for my taste of what I consider the Classic Tele tone.

Since you helped me out with picking out humbuckers, I'll try to help you here. I have the Lollar specials and love the meaty tone they have. Not very twangy, just full and woody. I haven't tried the CS specials, but they sound similar.

I don't think you would regret spending the extra money on the Lollars. I have yet to hear anyone anywhere complain about the tone they get with their Lollar pickups...

I have a Lollar T Special in my Nash tele. I love it. Nice and round. Not too top-aggressive and just the right amount of bite.

I have a Lollar Charlie Christian bridge and a Charlie Christian neck pickup coming in the mail this week. I'll be putting them in the partscaster I've ordered the parts for. Should be awesome.

Tim Lerch is the man. Awesome player, awesome touch, awesome tone.

Thanks, thats what I wanted to hear, not that interested in twang, more interested in a harder rock sound, I have resigned myself to not becoming a chicken picker!

Thanks, +1000 on Tim Lerch, I would give anything to be able to play like that!

Vintage Vibe H540-42 5% overwound. Pete is putting an alnico 5 in the bridge and a 3 in the neck. Plus, I ordered on Friday but got an email notification today saying they are shipping me my pickups tomorrow! Can't wait.

There's a lot of ways to decide. I would seriously consider The Fender pickups, why not spend less money?

I got the special T's and I'm hugely-pleased.

Pickups will get you thru times of no money way-better than money will get you thru times of icky pickups!

Ah man, you know it's the relentless pursuit of tone. Buying something just because it's cheaper will not make one happier. It's funny how all it takes is writing a post to make one come to realize the answer they're looking for. As soon as you hit the submit button, you know what you need to do. I just sent the money for the Lollars cause I know they're gonna be awesome!

+1000 I am definitely in that camp. I have just finished replacing all my guitars' pickups. It's not worth it to struggle to make mediocre equipment try to sound good!!

Wow, that Tim Lerch guy is incredible.

Anyone have any specific experience with the special T in the neck position?

Lollar makes great pickups. However, even the Specials are on the bright side so make sure the Strat you are putting them in isn't already suffering from overly bright tone. Most people use Lollar Blondes or Blackface in the Neck & Middle when pairing with a Special in the bridge.
