Should i put in Fralin vintage pickups or.............

Fender 57/62's in my new guitar. I have a new 57 reissue replacement neck and am gonna put on an ESP 400 series body which now has Texas Specials that I want out. To you guys and gals who are familiar with both, what do you think. I am a serious blues player. The Blues is the only reason I took up guitar. I'm not talking the Fralin vintage Hots but the regular wound vintage fralins. Thank you

From a Fralin 54 user...

Dunno how much this helps, but I'm *very* happy with the Real 54s in my mutt strat (chunky custom made neck, MIJ 60s RI basswood strat body).

But the PUs do sound very different in a hardtail alder body I also have - way bright, almost TOO punchy in the upper mids. So it depends on your guitar - what are you playing?

I play mostly blues too, some soul/funk/rock, the Real 54s suit me just fine. They are low output and bright with a tight bass. This voicing really compliments the low-mids of the basswood body and uppermids of maple neck.

YMMV as always

Trevor

I'm partial to Rio Grande pickups (have a set of Vintage Tallboys in mine) and get a lot of compliments on my guitar's tones.
