This shouldn't have turned out so good!

A collection of parts found their way together on the cheap over the last few weeks and ended up a Floyd Rose single humbucker Van Halen kinda Strat. I needed 1 humbucker to finish it up and wire it tonight. All I had to spare was an Epiphone '57 neck humbucker. Off came the cover, plunked it in the bridge position, wired it to one 500k volume pot and finished the guitar tonight.
The tone is fantastic, I can't describe how rich and clear it sounds. I am just amazed that this guitar sounds better than my other guitars.
I think I just got lucky on this one.

That is exactly what I'm experiencing with my little single pickup Squire tele. An inexpensive guitar with tone for days and a kick to play. Don't you just love when things like this come together? Post up some pics, I would love to see it.

I love cheap pickups. As someone used to have in their tagline here 'don't forget the other 75% of the tone comes from your amp' or something like that.

Amp and hands are the biggest factors , in my opinion as well...I put a GFS/artec Minibird meant for the bridge position in my tele's neck, I set it very low, about level with the pickguard and it exceeded my expectations big time...matches great with the stock MIM bridge pup, which, outside of a little noise, is a great sounding pup, set low and a little angled forward, it sounds like a vintage tele pup...shielding gets rid of the noise btw..big fan of cheap pups here...I like the quirks
