The one thing keeping me from getting a set of Wilde pickups is not really hearing anything I like on youtube. I have the Lollar Blackface set in one of my strats.

Does Wilde make anything with a similiar sound? I'm talking meaty, ballsy with the ability to finesse like with the Blackfaces...

I don't need another set of Cray pickups.

keystones. quite height sensitive. bring 'em closet to the strings 'til you find the sweet spot.

Have you recorded yourself playing through these pups? Post online?

i've got demo recordings somewhere lost in space ... another keystone deluxe set due to arrive in a week and will go on a new, special tele - will record it through my 5f2a. fwiw, i spent a goodly amount of time a/b'ing lollars, fralins and keystones - they all sounded great to me but the keystones were 1/3rd the cost.

I recently ordered a L48T Telecaster Bridge Pick-up thru my PayPal Account and received and e-mail confirmation of my order from Shannon the very next day so it looks as if they are up and running again. I'll post again when I get the pick-up installed in my Samick Tele and let y'all know how it goes.

Which of the Bill n Becky noiseless pickups would be best in the bridge of a Tele for wanting something a little bit hotter and darker than a vintage sound? I want it to sound very tele but more of a Fralin Blues Special type of sound or something along those lines, but noiseless. The stock pickups in my tele sound great, but man can they hum! Especially with a decent amount of overdrive!

Whenever considering a BL Tele bridge pup, keep in mind that they often have issues with stamped steel bridges. Don't get me wrong, both my Teles have BL L290TL pickups in them, and I love them, but only after changing out my bridges for modern brass versions. What I found with the steel bridges is that they tend to squeal, and the steel distorts the magnetic field of the pup enough to cause some hum to still be there. It also made the overall tone very spikey and somewhat harsh. Once I replaced the bridges with modern brass Gotoh models, all the squeal and hum COMPLETELY disappeared, and the tone warmed up beautifully.

To answer your question, the L290TL and the L298TL are both somewhat hotter and darker than vintage models. I don't know for sure, but my guess is that the L298TL is a bit darker than the L290TL. I can't speak for the L200TL or the L48TL.

i used to use the gotoh brass saddle comp bridge lots but have switched over to the wikinson brass comp saddle bridge because it allows string thru or top loading. either are superb for any tele/esquire application.

I'm actually referring to the bridge plate, not the saddles. The saddles are too far away from the pickup to have any effect on the magnetic field, but the plate has an enormous effect if it is stamped steel, which will distort the magnetic field. After my experience, I will only consider brass or stainless steel as a bridge plate material. For saddles, I'm open to anything, but I prefer the 3 brass barrels.

yep, i knew what ya meant. i don't find steel bridges to be an issue, and i use both the three saddle steel and six saddle brass tele bridges.

Rob,

you mention using the L290TL for your teles, do you match it with the L200N or L202TN? Is the difference between the L200 or L202TN only the cover? Have you tried the L48TL vs the L290TL.

either pup - i hear no difference 'tween the 200 and 202, but i see a difference.

yes, have installed a gaggle fo 48's, the 290 offers a bit more mid range voicing (think: p90).

this is all subjective stuff, your ears may vary.

Just received an update on my order from Shannon alls good and i am very patient so it hasnt bothered me.

Hello, as we are working at getting your order out as soon as we can, we really appreciate your patience. You'll receive an email with the tracking number.
The reason there has been a delay in our production, was due to an unforeseeable facility move at the end of January. Thanks again for your order and we're working to get it shipped.
All the Best Shannon

I placed an order for a set of Keystone Deluxe Tele PU's on Monday. Got an email from Shannon yesterday asking me if I wanted the Chrome, black or Cream neck PU cover. Very cool to get a quick response and she thanked me for my order.

Good ears! I just found out today that the L202 is simply a forward-looking renaming of the L200 to denote that it uses AlNiCo 2, in case Bill ever decides he wants to do an AlNiCo 5 poled noiseless pickup.

The L290TL has a darker, more mid-focused character, but coloration along those lines is easily achieved with the L48TL using a capacitor on the tone pot to tune the response. The L48TL measures 2 Henries, which reduces interaction with the cable capacitance to the extent that you can use capacitors to color the response to taste, in both degree and location. I prefer this approach as you can retain and balance high-end above the resonance (coloration) instead of rapidly dropping off as a higher inductance pickup would in interacting with cable capacitance to achieve that character.

Hey Derek,

I was just going to post the same info about the L200TN and L202TN. Seems like we've got the same source

Thanks again
