Ok, probably there is an answer to my question somewhere in the forum but i swore i've looked and i wasn't able to find anything. I've asked before in this trhead but no one answered: i need help to identify a Lawrence l250t that came with a tele i bought on ebay, no printing on it so i guess is not a Wajcman product.. it also has a black felt glued on the bottom, grey cable and flush blade.

I have one just like that in the bridge of my MIM. I've always assumed it was just a 1980s-vintage Bill Lawrence.

It's a REALLY good pickup, quiet and powerful and twangy.

Thank you kludge, your help is really appreciate :)
Yes is definitely a good pickup, when i got the guitar it sounded dark and lifeless due to the mess the previous owner did on the electornics, after a little soldering it sound terrific. So bad i've ordered a replacement too quick :)
Thanks again, best.

all my recent orders for bl pups (about 14 all together) have arrived no later than 2 weeks - they're back in the groove. the keystone tl deluxe set is just KILLER. i've totally stopped wasting dollars on all those boutique pups as bill's designs are all beef and no sizzle.

ummm, that 'guy' shannon is bill's daughter.

the L298TL along with a q-filter is killer for an esquire!

the L298SN is an amazing strat neck pup!

I haven't heard of the L298SN or L298SM. I always thought that the L298 was only available as a bridge model. I know that they discontinued the L290SN and L290SM years ago.

After looking again at the website, I can see that the L298 is available for each position. How does it compare with the L280N? (which I have on three different guitars)

L298 = thick single coil tone, somewhat like a p90
L280 = more treble, more glass

OK...now I'm really anxious to hear/see what Keystones are all about after all the chatter. I have an older set of Bill's dual blade OBL's in a Strat. They were manufactured in W. Germany in the 80's I believe? I really like them because: 1. they're quiet 2. they sound great! I think Coco Montoyo used them for awhile in his white Strat. That's where I first heard them, so a tracked down a set.

A couple of questions about the Keystone's for Tele's. I take it, they're true single coils & not split! Are they reverse wound & do you lose anything soundwise if you get a metal cover on the neck pickup? I had an 1984 MIJ '60 RI Tele that I sold w/ a set of Fralin Blues installed that had a metal cover & it always sounded dark & muddy! I'm real pleased w/ Area T's & they come w/ a metal cover on their neck pickup...So am I better off getting the Keystones w/, or w/o a cover?

The keystones are true single coils and are not reverse wound, but they're quiet so it's really a non issue. The cover on the keystones is actually plastic though you'd never know just by looking at it; Bill designed it this way so that there are no adverse effects on the sound.

I suggest you try them out, for the price there's no way you'll be unsatisfied and most people find they like them more than pickups costing several times the money.

It will still sound killer, but the sound will just be full-on all the time. Adding a Q-Filter will bring it back to Twang Land.

The Keystones are reverse-wound/reverse-polarity to each other and are therefore noise-cancelling in the middle position. They're also really quiet to start with. Many have found that pickup height makes a huge difference in their sound. I had the neck set pretty close to start with. Very bluesy, stratty tone. At the suggestion of another thread here, I backed it WAY off, almost flush with the body. To my ears, much better. Woodier, fuller, with a broader tonal range.

The Press Release from Lace was misleading on this issue -- there was NO MERGER. An "alliance" perhaps but nothing more.

In case you don't know. Shannon is their daughter and lives in New York. Bill and Becky are in California (Huntington Beach) to be near the factory. Shannon has picked up the ball on the email and paypal department and Becky manages the shipping from California. Bill has never been a computer guy -- he reads but generally doesn't do his own email or write directly on the forum. Becky has done all the email and billing but with her illness this has been more difficult and hence, Shannon has stepped in from her remote location. I spoke to Bill last on Jan 14th and he was doing great at that time. Things were getting back to normal.
thank you for clearing this up, I have a set of Keystone T Deluxe that I am putting in my blackguard build and I was wondering if these latest pickups are being manufactured the same way....the answer seems to be yes and I won't hesitate to order a set for my Strat
