upgrading a squier affinity advice please..

Ok, so the guitar plays great but sounds strange. the neck pup is creamy but carries no weight. the bridge one has so much trebble i can't play with reverb.[and i love reverb]
never had to use a tone knob til i got a tele!
so i need advice on pickups which are available in the UK, not expensive and tele sized.
Anyone?

Mike:

I just joined myself. Don't despair! The Squier Affinity tele is the best budget tele out there. I also own one. They are extremely brittle and glassy on the bridge pup. Both the vol. and tone pot are 500k. I replaced the tone pot with a 250k pot and WOW!; literally night and day difference! The brittle edge is gone but the chacteristic twang is intact. Make this change and I guarantee you'll love that little guitar!

I agree with B.J.TELE, try switching the pots to 250K.

Several months after I replaced the stock pickups in my son's Affinity Tele I tried them in another Tele with 250K pots. That does make them less trebly sounding. After playing them for a few weeks with the 250k pots I decided they were still a little more brittle feeling than I like, and I replaced them.

But I wouldn't recommend you dismiss them as unusable until you try them with 250K pots.
