Alternative pickups for my Nocaster
I was tempted to put 'tele' not 'nocaster' as I know some people are a little funny about messing with Nocasters. So lets just put that to one side.
I have the original nocaster pickups, but currently have a CS vintage noiseless in the neck and a CS texas special in the bridge. It's a really nice blend, the edgy bridge and soft neck. I do not plan to sell or throw away any of my pickups, but I am looking for an alternative set of pickups (preferably stacked or even humbuckers) which I can install when necessary. I only use this guitar and occasionally need a heavier sound or more punch. I've had a hot rails and really didn't like the sound. I need something that will have punch, but will also sound 'decent' for clean sounds. Any suggestons (and sound clips) would be very helpful. Thank you |

Lollar Special T bridge and neck might be what you're looking for. They're not humbuckers, but they are definitely on the hot side. The nice thing is they still twang when you back off on the volume. I have a Special T bridge in my '69 Thinline RI, paired with a Lollar Charlie Christian. It's a great pickup when you want something a little hotter than usual. Although I have no experience with them, you could also look into the Duncan BG-1400.
