Best position for humbuckers in a strat?

I've been thinking of building a partscaster with 2 humbuckers and wondered which is the best position for these in the pickguard.

I've seen strats with 2 h/b's - one in the regular neck position and one in the regular bridge pup position - but I've also seen Andy Fairweather Low's strats which have 2 h/b's and the second one is in what would be the middle pup position on a regular strat.

It looks a bit odd cos all the metalwork on the body is towards the bridge end of the body but he gets some good tones out of his guitar.

So, I'm wondering whether there's any benefit of fitting the second h/b in the mid position rather than the neck position.

Anybody got any comments based on their own experience?

I like a humbucker in the bridge position on a strat. The bridge pickup on a lot of guitars can be too bright for my taste, a bridge humbucker helps to balance that out IMO.

I've never tried them anywhere else. I generally like that clarity and bite of a single coil on a strat. To me that is what a strat should sound like.
