Twisted Tele?
Hi, I am trying to learn more about the "twisted tele" pickups. I want to try them out but don't know anyone who has them.
Has anyone here tried them? I like the description of them having more bell tone qualities. I did see a video of them and they sound like what I'm after. I may go with boutique pickups, there are some small builders that have some interesting offerings. If I can find something similar I may go with that..Suggetions? |

I've got them on my Custom Classic Tele. They're my favorites (I've also got a Tele loaded wiith Keystones, which are very nice). If I get a chance later this afternoon, I'll do a quick recording and post it.
As far as getting a pair, E-Bay is your best bet. I don't think they Fender sells them separately.

Doesn't the twisted tele just refer to the neck pup? The Baja and CS teles that I've seen have the Twisted Tele neck and a CS Broadcaster bridge.
Anyhow the Twisted Tele neck I had in my Baja sounded very good,,,almost strat-like. |

Nice guitar drewsblues. Is that a stock neck?
Yes Broly that does refer to the neck pickup with a Broadcaster in the bridge. I am fairly new to tele ownership. Usually go with strats. I like the stock tele tone fine but I want it to have a little more sumtin' sumtin'. (something something) |

I had to travel for work this week. While there a co-worker took me to a local jam session. I got to hear someone playing a tele equipped with pickups from Roadhouse Pickups.
I really liked these. One guy played lots of things from Hendrix to Haggard on that guitar and I was really surprised at the great tone. I think they had pretty much all I was looking for. Clean, quiet, warm, balanced, and so on. Everyone there seemed to really like them too. I am thinking about getting a set but I have never heard of these pickups before. They aren't expensive but I just don't know anything else about them...? I also did a search and didn't find much about them either. Has anyone else ever come across these or does anyone have a set? I got to talk to several people about their experience with the twisted pickup and I think I want to go in a different direction now. The set I heard were the Specials. http://roadhousepickups.com/RH_Special_Tele.html |
