Sneaky Wiring Tricks

I've just updated my webpage on pickup wiring

http://www.gmarts.org/index.php?go=236

It starts with standard wiring, then common mods, then advanced but still practical mods. Schematics only, no wirograms.

I've just finished typing, so there are probably a few typos and things I need to explain more clearly. Nevertheless, it a long page with about 20+ different ideas so enjoy - all feedback welcome. Most of it is based on typical strat or Les Paul wiring, but many ideas are applicable to Teles.

I wonder how much addtional work it would be to also post these schemes as wirograms. I ask because I'm guessing that the vast majority of people desiring to do these mods can't read schematics. I know I can't.

This isn't a judgement or a critique of the hard work you've obviously already spent on this project but simply a suggestion to make what you've done even more accesible to many more people.

I too cannot grasp those schematics. Seems like a lot of us here love the concept but not the means of conveyance.

Do have a serious think about 'wirograms'. (never heard of that term before this post but I imagine it to be a means of physically showing what goes where!)

For those who like circuit diagrams instead, here is another site.

Thanks for the feedback - I need to be clearer about this at the top of the page I think.

Sorry guys, but wirograms are out of the question for this page. Just think about it: I have over 20 suggestions, some a variation on a theme, so let's assume there are 10. That's 2 to the power 10 different combinations of options that people might want (over 1000 diagrams). Then when you consider the number of different types of switches that poeple might want to use and have drawn for them it get's truly ridiculous. That's why we use schematics: they're generic.

The other reason is that I've spent over 40 years working this stuff out, in times when there was no Internet and experts held this stuff secret. It's been my choice to make the effort to write about them and pay for them to be made available freely to readers. So if you're really interested, I don't see it as unreasonable that some effort is made to either learn to read schematics or to pay someone else for the effort they've made to learn about electronics. Not trying to be heavy or deep about this - just an observation and my opinion

So don't worry about the schematics if you can't read them - just read the text and if any of the ideas sound appealing, then they're worth following up. Now, if someone is offering to draw these, I'd be happy to host them with due thanks and credit
