esquire freak looking for tapped pickup
I LOVE my frankensquire esquire. so much,in fact, that it is time to start obtaining more of them. Next thing I want to try is a tapped output pickup. I recently played a St.Blues tele style guitar that had tapped pickups and I really liked it. I even saw somebody named Klein that makes a triple tapped one. I LOVE that idea! Anybody know if it works/sounds decent. The epiphone jack cassidy bass is wired like that: Volume, Tone and THREE output levels on the pickup. Sounds like the perfect Esquire to me.the switch would do nothing more that select the output level!!

Do it...
I have a tapped A2 wound at Broadcaster level resistance for the tap and overwound close to those early Nocaster levels (9.6K); this was made to spec by Owen Duffy (but not expensive) and with a 4-way switch, I get regular Broadcaster tap w tone, regular Broadcaster tap w/o tone, full Nocaster tap w tone, and full tap w/o tone. Incredible range out of this combo!!

Done Mare makes one - he calls his the Stingray.
I have one. I haven't installed it yet though (and it's gonna be a while). He has a standard spec'd model on his website, but he'll custom wind it too if you want something different. Cheers, Geoff

I've been looking at the Klein Tri-States for a while too. Great range of outputs on both of those and at a fantastic price. If you email him then he can wind to your specs for a few more dollars, he always replies to emails promptly. When I start building my Esquire it's definitely where I'll be going for my pickup and I've looked at other tapped manufacturers (Don Mare etc).
I'm not affiliated with Chris Klein in any way.

My Esquire has the Duncan Custom Tapped JB. Two output levels, goes from liquid smooth to a P90-esc bite, and wound by Seymour himself. Everyone who plays my Esquire says it is flat out the best Tele tone they have ever heard, period. Cost some cash (I think it was $200 for me at the time) but worth every cent.
