Opinions on Fender Fat 50's?

Guys,
I'm picking up a nice strat with Fender Fat 50's installed. Any experience you care to share on how much you like or dislike them? Thanks!

Hi there, sorry, I have to say I definitely do NOT like them - at all!

I installed a set in a Strat home build 3 years ago and was immediately struck by how 'trashy' they sounded. Characterless too. Might suit a punk band though.

The only saving grace may be the middle pup. Fairly sweet sounding for clean solos. Speaking of which, they overdrive BADLY - ice-picky - too toppy. Only thing fat about these is the price.

See if you can try a guitar with a set for yourself - your opinion may differ.

That's cool! I want honesty, not baloney!! The guitar itself is pristine so no worries there. I briefly tried it out at the seller's home and it sounded pretty good. I'll wait to see how it sounds through my gear and then make the decision to keep them or swap them out. I mostly play blues, rock & soul.
Thanks!!

Wow, my experience with them was exactly the opposite. I found mine to have that vintage vibe, not hot, not thin, just sort of chimy.

I have them in my Strat and I really like them. I have no idea what that other guy is talking about. The in between positions are amazing and worth the price of admission alone.

They suck

Worst pickups out there bar none. Throw them away. ( I will send you my address). Tell anyone you know not to waste their money.
(But if they do they can also send them to me). I would't buy these with your money. Buy something else leave all fat 50's for me.
