weird vintage parts build (WRHP or Alnico V?)

So last year I decided I would put together my dream tele that never existed, and make it as seriously vintage as I could, but weird. I found a real 1953 neck, refretted and refinished. Then I found a pickup from a 51 Champ lap steel that had been fitted with a tele bassplate, so it's pretty identical now to a normal bridge pickup. I left these parts with Rick Kelly at Carmine St Guitars, and asked him to build a body out of his stash of 200 year old pine, black body with white/cream binding. Not original 50s style there, but what I wanted. Rick said he doesn't usually do that kind of where (where he's not building a whole guitar) but he was willing to do it because these are cool parts. Now, it's been 6 or 9 months and I don't think he's worked on it yet, so not sure what to do there, but that's not the point of this post.

I also gave him a 1973 WHRP (fender humbucker) that I found on ebay for much less than they usually sell for. In fact, I got super lucky with all these parts. But I also found a real 1956 Alnico V pickup, like I was asking about in this thread:

So now I'm not sure what to do. Should I let the guitar continue as planned with the humbucker, or go with the staple pickup? They're both amazing pickups and I can't go wrong either way, but I'm at a loss here! I can't even believe I found all these parts.

STAPLE!!!! Come on make my dream guitar come true. Also have you considered a 1930's Gibson firestripe pickguard on that black body; it would be a killer combo. I just bought a stripped 5 pound 1953 Stratotone with the killer Dearmond neck pickup and may go black body and firestripe pickguard. Good luck with the build and please post a picture if you can upon completion.

Wow, firestripe pickguard is a brilliant idea -- how can I make one? Can you imagine a tele that looks like this?
