Floating Archtop pickups

I just don't want to cut the top of my old Hofner archtop but I want to mic it and I guess the best way would be to put a floating pickup on it. I already tried a Kent Armstrong floating pickup:

but that just wasn't for me, I found it too middy/muddy and it didn't have the clarity I want.

What else is out there, I guess most of the vintage stuff is out because of ridiculous prices but what else is out there? I guess I'm looking for a sweet, clear but fat sound. I really love the sound of P-90:s so something like that. I've got something like 5/8" or max 3/4" room for the pickup.

Why not put a Hofner floating archtop mini-humbucking pickup on it? Available from any Hofner dealer. Made by Schaller, as used on the current Chancellor, New President, Jazzica, John Stowell Verythin. Comes in nickel plating or gold plating with a mounting ring designed to attach to the end of the neck. Looks like the pickups they used in the early 1960's, but it's modern, with 4 conductor wiring.
