grounding a pickup
apologies as this is a little OT
i have a steel guitar with a 10 pole SC pickup that is wired direct to the out put jack - no earth wire - consequently it hums quite badly an full volume i need to earth it and wonder what is the best / easiest way to do it my initial thought was to run a wire off the negative side of the jack back to a copper strap screwed onto the bridge would this work?? or would i need to pull the pickup apart and make an earth tap - not sure even how to do this
