Keystone retrofit cover

I know this matter was discussed a couple of years ago but things may have changed.
My Keystone neck pickup is the original style without cover and I understand Bill Lawrence's motives in avoiding a metal cover.The chromed plastic cover on the Deluxe set is his solution

My problem is not how my pickup looks but I have snagged the high E string under the top plate a few times.Not only might it cause damage to the pickup coil but it interrupts the music.
I wish his covered pickup was available when I bought my keystones.I love the Keystone sound and do not want to compromise that with a metal cover .Any suggestions on a retrofit cover would be welcome.

There was a thread a couple of weeks ago about this, the verdict was that aftermarket covers wouldn't work and would risk breaking the pup.

The covered Keystones are 1. plastic covers and 2. Epoxied on somehow.

You could sell your set and "upgrade", they're pretty reasonably priced and I bet you could sell yours easily!
