GFS Lil Puncher Modern Lead experiences?
Do any of you have any experience with this pickup set? I'm considering them for my CV Tele, which is pine with a maple neck/fretboard.
I'm looking for good thick rock/hard rock crunch with decent harmonic/solo potential, think VH/Weezer/Jimmy Eat World/Bon Jovi etc, but also want to maintain traditional Tele tones (within reason) when coil tapped. My rig is a Blackstar HT5 into a 2x12 with V30s. Would these Modern Lead pickups do the job? Anyone use them? |

I think those lil punchers would suit your needs. You'll want to upgrade to 500k pots as well. You can also use 1meg pots if you want some serious ballz out tone. I haven't used the Hot lead set, but I have used the cool lead set. They performed very well, better than expected actually. I am building my buddy a hard rock guitar, and I am going to install the GFS lil puncher hot lead pickups in it. Plus, since they are humbuckers you can rig up a push pull pot for coil tapping or add a 5 way switch for some series/ parrallel options.

Thanks man, just seen some youtube clips with these pickups but they just seem to be playing metal, which is not my thing.
I would use the Duncan spin-a-split method to tap these humbuckers, but I don't know if it works with Teles... can anyone enlighten me? |
